I've been told some people are having a lot of old content show up as new. I'm sorry for that; I think it is tied to a more aggressive indexing schedule. Hopefully it is a one-time event that will be complete soon. Until then, there is a "mark all posts as read" button on the forum page. Not optimal, I know.

I see some people got "access denied" errors on a few pages too. I think that was temporary, but I'll keep and eye on the logs.

After talking to the site's host today about how often it has been down lately, they restarted a bunch of services and said things should be better. Then an hour later ALL their servers went down for an hour. The amount of downtime lately has become very bad, and I'm sorry for it. I've been at my current host for 6 years, but it looks like I might have to move.

After today, emoticons are much improved. Also, you can specify a custom title that will show up along with your level and avatar on your posts. Next step is to get all the formatting from the comments applied to the forum posts.
