I have a notion for my upcoming game. There are four major regions, and I plan to assign each a couple of speech modifications. There will be a simple grammar twiddle, and 3 or 4 slang words to replace common words. It will not be enforced that players from those regions have to use these modifications, but I hope that doing so will help stay in character, build verisimilitude, and perhaps aid in the awarding of bonus AP. The only one I have so far is documented here.

It's a great concept that will pay dividends in roleplay. I'm putting my tear ducts to labor knowing that I will not be participating
Paul "Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it... All that matters is that today, two stood against many. Valor pleases you, so grant me this one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, the HELL with you!"

Some ideas:
Sample conversation:
"Let us put feet to road! Is everyone ready?"
"She is ready. He is ready. I am not ready. Darok is almost ready."
"I'm eager as a poor man at a feast. Let's go!"
"These blankets old and worn will not do."
"It's as warm as summer sand! Forget about that."
"It's warm now. You will be glad I planned ahead when we face the night cold.
"We need more kindling. We need fresh water."
"Put your hands to the task before I put a boot to your ass!"

I had an NPC once who spoke entirely in titles. It was interesting, but I don't think it would scale well.
"I am the one who goes to the cave now."
"You are the one who will fall to my axe."
Ah, Koddox Grell, we barely knew ye.

Who was Koddox Grell? I'm drawing a blank.
Also... what sort of names do dudes have in Vis Major? Are they pretty much the same as names we use now? I was thinking that maybe first names were forgotten about, because they became pretty useless when the population dwindled. I mean, think about how many "Matt"s you know.

You probably blocked out Grell. He was a relatively minor guy in the adventure I ran on the island of Tallow, where everyone got pwned by the lich and we did an undo. That was the one where I poisoned Karg's anti-toxin.
As for names, it is pretty open at this point. I have named a couple NPCs so far, so I'll throw those out there as examples.
Sir Richard Ivens Lexiot, a military commander from the Kingdom of Vye.
D Bianco 3, head of House Bianco and ruler of the Borderland of Biancosh.
