Fri 2:00pm – 7:30pm
Session begins with a bang! A full 8 players right off the bat with anther 6 or so coming and going. Lots of interest from spectators and there was much fun and praise. Every monster for himself, with the winner being Matt /Godzilla with 67pts. Anime Boston, along with the free room, parking, and helpers, also hooked us up with prizes for us to give out! Big stuffed Godzillas and the 2 actual rule books for Warmachine. Crazy!
Sat – 9:00am
There’s a line of 15-20 people waiting for the game room to open. We arrive to applause! Not lying!
9:30am – 12:30pm
Team battle, good monsters vs bad with 5 giant G-Force robots already on the board to defend the city. 16 Monsters! 5 Robots! 1 JDF! Twenty two players!!! Plus 4 GM’s and about 10 spectators at any one given time. Madness! The victory went to the good monsters who pulled it out by about 12 pts! Vin /Godzilla was once again the King of the Monsters with 83pts
2:00pm – 6:30pm
We had lunch over a huge debate about the rules, mine vs Warmachine. Unknown to me Scott and Mike were allowing players to do things that the Warmachine rules allow that I don’t. Such as allow a monster engaged in a melee to shoot a vehicle or building, than resume the melee. The debate broke down to what was more important, being a point based strategy game first or being more “true” to the movies. I thought there was a balance, they did not. In any case, more rule clarifying is necessary.
7:00pm – 11:30pm
Another team battle, same scenario as before. 16 players. This time the bad monsters win by almost 100pts!!! A blow out. Mechagodzilla was the King!
Thoughts
Best Anime Moments: Free helpers! The reaction from the players when Majin rose from the mountain, awesome! Actually having people waiting to play my game!
Worst Anime Boston Moments:. The helpers banging up my terrain. And the one kid getting upset during the second session, his points were skewed because of the rules fiasco and he lost about 80pts, a real downer.
Surprises: Believe it or not, I really didn’t expect him. Free prizes from Anime Boston. One of the players Dad’s bought us all pizza.
Overall: Had an awesome time. The response was great. Scott, Mike and Justin were an unbelievable help. Justin took like 250 pictures. Anime Boston is Nuts!! I can’t believe how many people are into it. That’s why I couldn’t believe it when 95% of the people didn’t even recognize my Giant Robots! Man are we old!
